2024 in Review, 2025 in Focus
Dear Students,
As we prepare to take off into 2025, it’s the perfect time to reflect on 2024—a year of navigating turbulence and making significant strides. From staffing changes to record-breaking flight hours, your resilience and determination have been truly inspiring.
Thanks to the unwavering dedication of our amazing Instructors, the expertise of our Aircraft Maintenance Team, and the collaborative efforts of our Management Team, we’ve stayed on course and achieved remarkable success.
Highlights from 2024:
-
Staffing Updates: Iris joined Student Services in April, and Steven Dadson became part of Maintenance Management in November, strengthening our leadership team.
-
Record Achievements: We logged more flight hours than ever before, showcasing your hard work and commitment to excellence.
-
Student Council Launched: A platform for student voices to be heard and community connections to flourish.
-
Facility Improvements: We started upgrading our student areas, with exciting transformations planned for the New Year.
-
New Programs Approved: In 2025, we’ll begin training Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, opening new career pathways.
-
Technology Advancement: In April 2024, we implemented a new Student Data Management System: EMS. Looking ahead, we’ll roll out the EMS companion phone app in January 2025 to make it even easier to stay connected and informed.
Looking Ahead to 2025:
As we climb to new altitudes, here’s what’s in store:
-
Facility Renovations:
-
The Maintenance capacities will be expanded into Hangar 73 and Hangar 74. With more aircraft maintenance space and more engineers, we will increase the aircraft utilities and aircraft-in-air time in 2025.
-
Hangar 72 will see exciting changes: the former Maintenance Team area downstairs will become a new Staff Lounge for Instructors and Maintenance Staff, while the previous Instructor Lounge upstairs will transform into a dedicated Student Lounge.
-
-
Transitioning to new Academic Model:
-
We will have a small student intake in January 2025.
-
Starting March 1st, we’re transitioning to a structured academic year (March 1 to October 31) with three yearly intake dates:
-
March 1st
-
June 1st
-
August 26th
-
To align with other academic institutions, an official Academic Break will be introduced, running from November 10th, 2025, to March 2nd, 2026. This break coincides with the inclement weather period, a time when flight opportunities are limited, and many students tend to take time away. During the Official Academic Break, the flight trainings will be continued in suitable weather conditions.
-
Full-Time Work Opportunities: International students will be permitted to work full-time during the Academic Break to support their expenses.
-
Winter Learning Opportunities: During the Academic Break, special Winter School classes will help students catch up, improve performance, and continue flight trainings.
-
Orientation for International Students: Starting in 2025, all international students will participate in a two-week Orientation program before beginning flight training. This free program ensures everyone has the tools to succeed from day one not only in the pilot training, but also dependent new life experiences in Canada.
-
Focus on Professional Development:
Our mission for 2025 is to emphasize student development, personal responsibility, and conduct. We will be asking more of you, and this means:-
Prioritizing attendances and professional behaviors to grow up you for the responsibilities of being a professional pilot. Contribute as much as your energies in your pilot trainings.
-
Encouraging active participation in CAC’s community through roles in the Student Council or as mentors to new students.
-
We are offering the option of adding online Groundschool Classes for to your CAC training, by partnering with Canadian Flight Trainers. More details and updates will be available on our Website after January 6th, 2025.
-
As we navigate these exciting changes, remember that every pilot faces turbulence before finding clear skies. Let’s use 2025 as an opportunity to soar higher, embrace growth, and strengthen our community.
Here’s to another year of perseverance, progress, and passion for flight. Together, we’ll continue to reach new heights. Should you have any questions or comments, please don’t be hesitated to send me email or talk to me face to face.
Warm regards,
The Leadership Team at Canadian Aviation College
